Northwest Gold Woodstock competitors

For the first time, Crystal Ice House, home rink of Northwest Gold High School Figure Skating Team was the site of the third of four Northwest Illinois high school competitions hosted by the Skating Council of Illinois. Two Woodstock students competing for Northwest Gold -- Reese Connor and Miabella Carzoli -- competed in both team and solo events. Connor's Intermediate team earned fifth place and she earned a solo dance gold medal; Carzoli's Low team earned second place while she also earned gold for her solo dance. Teams came from as far away as Peoria and the Quad Cities. Twenty-five teams competed at three levels, Sunday March 12.

Crystal Ice House general manager David Lichterman said that he was excited to be chosen as the site for the competition to, "help promote youth sports."

The final high school competition will be held in Evanston in April.
